The 18th Session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for Safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage took place in Kasane, Botswana.
On 5 December 2023, ‘Traditional Knowledge, Methods and Practices Related to Olive Cultivation’ was included in Turkey’s ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage List in Need of Urgent Protection.’
On 6 December 2023, three elements were registered as multinational in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. ‘Tezhip / Tazhib / Zarhalkori / Tezhip / Naqqoshlik’ was recorded in the ‘Representative List’ as the multinational file of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan. ‘Iftar / Eftari / Iftar / Iftar / Iftor and Socio-Cultural Traditions’ was included in the ‘Representative List’ as a multinational file of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Uzbekistan and Turkey.
‘Balaban / Mey Craftsmanship and Execution Art’ and ‘Mother-of-Pearl Inlay Craftsmanship’ were registered in the ‘Representative List’ as a multinational file of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
With the registration of these four elements, the number of components included in the Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists of Turkey increased to 30. Thus, Turkey became the second country to register the highest number of elements in the Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
